DECK FAQ
-
Cedar is softer and more porous than treated wood. It has that beautiful red color when first installed and smells amazing. Typically, cedar requires staining every few years to maintain its beauty.
Treated wood has been pressure treated (preserved) to withstand the elements and is denser. Due to this treatment it doesn’t weather or damage as easily as cedar does, however, it is more prone to cracks and warps than cedar.
Both wood options are great choices and is personal preference.
Just remember, all types of lumber/wood are natural and have the possibility of twisting, warping, cupping or splitting.

We recommend simply power washing the deck.
If you have debris that won’t budge TimberTech makes an outdoor deck cleaner but any mild, bleach-free detergent and a soft-bristled brush works too!
-
We suggest waiting a few months for the wood to properly dry out before staining. This allows for maximum absorption of the stain.
-
We do not offer deck or fence staining services.
By focusing on our core strengths and collaborating with other skilled professionals, we can maintain a strong reputation in our area of expertise and provide a well-rounded service experience for our clients.
While we don’t offer in-house staining services, we do have reputable professionals we happily recommend.

We have a “showroom” in Bettendorf that’s currently open by appointment only — give us a shout and we’ll set aside some time to show you around and help you make your selection!
FENCE FAQ
-
There are many city laws and HOA rules around fence heights and styles, so this depends on where you live! We can help point you in the right direction most of the time though!
-
We don’t, but we can try to locate your property pins using a metal detector — they’re just not always easy to find. If we can’t locate them we reccommend contacting a survey company or getting your plot plan from the City.
We’ll just put the fence wherever you tell us and can’t be held responsible for property lines, invisible fences or irrigation systems.
That being said, we usually recommend moving the fence in a few inches from the property line to avoid any future issues.
